A fresh take on something blue

Set within the historic grounds of Buitenplaats Elswout, this editorial came to life at the 19th-century Orangerie, surrounded by the greenery of the estate. Its elegant architecture, soft blue doors and windows and natural surroundings created a beautiful backdrop for a light and romantic summer setting.

Soft ivory, powder blue and touches of butter yellow were carried throughout the styling, from the florals and flowing ribbons to the smallest stationery details. The result was a refined yet playful take on something blue, where the stationery became part of the setting rather than simply an addition to it.

Designed for the table

The table stationery was designed to bring the soft, playful character of the editorial into every place setting. Organic shapes, delicate texture and powder blue details come together in two pieces that complement each other while each having their own character.

  • Scalloped menu card
  • Shell place card

The scalloped menu card features soft butter yellow and ivory stripes, paired with elegant blue typography. A blind embossed shell adds a subtle tactile detail, while a baby blue tassel brings movement and a playful finishing touch to the design.

For the place cards, the shell shape was carried through more literally. Each card was designed to fold in half and stand on its own, with the shell details blind embossed into the paper. A single pearl finishes the design, while each guest name is set in the same soft blue and elegant typeface as the menu, tying the two pieces together.

Playful statement pieces

The larger stationery pieces were designed to bring the same soft colour palette and organic shapes beyond the table. Both designs became part of the surroundings, each with its own playful character while staying connected to the rest of the suite.

  • Scalloped welcome sign
  • Lemon-shaped bar sign

The welcome sign was designed in an oversized scalloped shape, creating a soft and elegant silhouette against the natural surroundings of Elswout. Suspended from a tree with two oversized baby blue bows, it became part of the setting itself. A three-dimensional shell detail at the bottom added texture and brought the shell motif from the table stationery into the larger design.

For the bar, the organic shapes continued in a more playful way with a custom lemon-shaped sign. Yellow was paired with fresh green details and blue typography, subtly connecting it back to the colours used throughout the stationery. Its illustrated leaf and sculptural silhouette turned a functional bar sign into a small statement piece of its own.
